Rod & Custom AssociationNRCA 2007 Scholarships Awarded
Two $1,000 scholarships were awarded in April 2007 to students who will attend a Nebraska Tech School in Automotive Technology or Auto Body.
The Scholarship Committee consisted of vice president Lee McComb and area reps Joe Oetken, Craig Paro and Rich Blum. They reviewed 15 applications and narrowed the number down to 4 that were interviewed.
This year we included 2nd year students in the Automotive Technology and Auto Body curriculums which proved to be a good move. Both selections this year are 2nd year students and members of the committee commented that they had a better grip on their career and had realized that the dream of opening their own shop and just doing customer work was a tough reality.
Our two winners this year are Joseph Baker of Omaha, and Jared McCarthy of Oshkosh.

This is Joseph Baker of Omaha who is attending Metropolitan Community College.
Craig Paro is shown congratulating Joseph.

This is Jared McCarthy from Oshkosh who is a second year student at Western Community College in ScottsBluff. Area Rep from Omaha, Joe Oetkin is shown congratulating Jared.
NRCA believes investing in those who plan to make a living from the hobby we are associated with is very important. If you would like to help in any way, we do keep scholarship funds separate and give credit to those who provide support. We have a good system, but the needs are greater than our financial ability at this time. Let us know if you or your club would like to invest in this effort.
NRCA has produced a DVD for the past years Tour Nebraska event with the help of volunteers. The proceeds from the sale of DVD has been earmarked to be used in the development of scholarships. The association also began holding an annual swap meet in 2005, with all of the proceeds being applied to the Scholarship Fund.
