1968 Torino GT

Owned by James Schmitz

**(Note to James - your shirts are in the mail.....Craig..)**

Though I live in California, I found this 68 in Louisville during the summer of 96. In the 90s, I would spend part of my summers helping my dad with his projects in Lincoln. This GT had been the victim of a small under hood fire and years of neglect.

Following my father’s passing and slow progress on the restoration, Joe Haag, a fellow Rebels Auto Club member, helped me move it to Siebert’s Body & Paint in Bradshaw in 2004.

That year, my daughter Rana drove down to Centerville, Missouri to pick up a good driver’s door, C & L Machine Shop in York did the engine work, Penner’s Tire and Auto in York made the exhaust system, suspension parts came from Detroit/Eaton, Fairlane Club members helped with rare parts, and the interior kit came from Dearborn Classics. The rotisserie restoration was done in Perry’s shop, which is to be commended for their skill and integrity in keeping down the costs. Great paint job!

Marty and Jan Bassett, also fellow Rebels Auto Club members, have provided vital assistance which made it possible for my son Carl and I to drive this “Custer Last Stand Yellow” Torino in Tour Nebraska 2006. We had a blast! Special Thanks to all who participated in this project and Tour.
